MBA Admissions Guide SummaryBelow is a summary in bullet points of the
main points in this guide:
- At the very fundamental level, business schools are
looking for individuals who are destined to become
successful alumni, build great businesses and create
opportunities for people that will ultimately better our
society. They are looking for great business
leaders.

- Business schools tailor the application to find out if you
have been successful and accomplished great things already. The
belief is that if you have done great things before, you are more
likely to do great things in the future.
- In order to evaluate your abilities, the admissions committee
asks for the great things that you have done (successes) around 4
external areas of focus: leadership, teamwork, integrity and
impact. By looking at your past successes in these 4 areas, the
admissions committee can evaluate your ability to become a great
business leader.
- To improve your successes in the 4 areas of focus, you need to
first focus on your internal attributes for success. I have
determined 6 attributes that when used together, empower you be
become successful in whatever thing you put your mind to. These 6
attributes are: passion, motivation, energy, perseverance,
flexibility and renewal.
- After you have internalized these 6 attributes for success,
you need to apply them to the areas (realms) that are important to
business schools. The 4 realms that I have identified are:
personal, professional (work related), professional (non-work
related) and community.
- As you spend your time working on doing extraordinary things
in the realms, make sure you always keep in mind the 4 external
areas of focus: leadership, teamwork, integrity and impact.
Remember that your successes in these 4 areas of focus will be
reflected in your answers to the application questions.
Finally, as you go through these steps think about why you
want to get an MBA. Try to apply a theme to your actions and how an
MBA might help take you beyond where you are now.
