What the Top MBA Schools Look For

Although it is true that business schools are looking for a diverse mix of students in terms of different backgrounds and experiences, they are in fact looking for specific types of people. Let me explain what I am talking about. If you are a lazy, procrastinator couch potato, you most likely will not get admitted to a top business school, even if you are a great GMAT test taker (unless you have some great luck behind you).

At the very fundamental level, business schools are looking for individuals who are destined to become successful alumni, build great businesses and create opportunities for people that will ultimately better our society. They are looking for great business leaders.

In order to find these people, business schools tailor the application to determine if that person has accomplished great things already. The belief is that if you have done great things before, you are more likely to do great things in the future.
